Helping ourselves. In the spirit of the season, I am going to offer some gift suggestions for the upcoming holiday season. Based on the concept of "Buy American," this year we want you to "buy robber." I should explain to our readers outside of the U.S. that the Christmas holiday season here starts earlier each year. What used to start after our Thanksgiving (fourth Thursday of November), now begins in October. Since I don't want to hear, "I wish you would have told me before I bought this stuff," I'm doing this now. Let's quit boosting the profits of the electronics industry during this period, and pump up the rubber industry instead. Checking the rubber content of your gifts should be a priority. Instead of getting your kids electronic gadgets for their cars, buy them a set of tires, have the belts and hoses changed, or the least you can do is get some new floor mats. If they have a track, mud flaps or a rubber inner-liner will do. If housewares house·wares pl.n. There are all kinds of items for the home that have significant rubber content. The same is true for tools and hardware. Opt for the tools that have overmolded rubber parts. Even if you like to give literary gifts, the robber industry should be your focus. This year, three new books are available, to go along with the number of fine books that have been published recently. These new books are unique because they contain no technical material. This intriguing, recently published book has a unique, die-cut rubber cover. Authors Janet Bloor and John D. Sinclair use more than 500 illustrations in this 112-page work that they say "celebrates the history of the world's most bouncy, stretchy stretch·y adj. stretch·i·er, stretch·i·est 1.
