Helping hand from IFMA volunteers.The International Facility Management Association's (IFMA IFMA International Facility Management Association (formerly National Facility Management Association) IFMA Institut Français de Mécanique Avancée (Clermont-Ferrand, France engineering school) ) World Workplace 2007 Conference & Expo is heading to New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded with more than the latest in facility management trends and innovations--it's also bringing some helping hands. The nonprofit IFMA Foundation is hosting the IFMA Foundation Volunteer Rebuild Project on October 27. The event seeks to honor New Orleans' first responders first responder First response personnel Emergency medicine A person employed in the public sector–EMT, fire fighter, police, volunteer EMS–whose duties include provision of immediate medical care in the event of an emergency; FRs have basic emergency by repairing damaged fire stations throughout the city. Volunteers will stay a day after the conclusion of World Workplace 2007 to offer their time and talent with the IFMA Foundation allocating approximately $45,000 for the repairs.
