"Last December the foundation was contacted by Cory Lyman, the Class Gift Chair for the class of 2005, and asked what their group might donate to provide assistance for wounded service members," stated Karen Theobald, HOHF President and Founder. "In working with the patients and their families, the foundation volunteers had realized that due to injury, trauma and other circumstances these brave men and women might not be able to or have the desire to return to their previous career when they recuperated. Some of these patients were active duty military, while others had been activated from their Reserve or Guard status; positions that might not be able to be altered to accommodate their future physical conditions. Together Cory and I brainstormed about what might be meaningful and provide long lasting assistance for many of the patients and their families recuperating at WRAMC WRAMC Walter Reed Army Medical Center . A resource library with access to career information, resume writing assistance, educational and vocational training resources, and lifestyle support seemed to make a lot of sense." The 2005 ICAF student body agreed to present a class gift consisting of library materials to create a "Life Strategies Library" at WRAMC in cooperation with the Helping Our Heroes Foundation. These materials are specifically targeted for those who have sustained life altering injuries in the current conflicts in the Middle East During the 20th and 21st centuries, there have been a number of conflicts in the Middle East.
