Helpers urged to get on board.

TALL Ships Race organisers are looking for around 200 volunteers to help with the competition next year.

When the boats sail into Hartlepool in August there will be an army of volunteers on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly.

Hartlepool Borough Council is appealing for people to take up those roles, and has published descriptions of the positions on its website.

Tall Ships chief liaison officer Sarah Willan said: "This is an opportunity to be a vital part of The Tall Ships Races 2010, the biggest free event in the country next year."

Liaison officers will make sure the captains and crews have everything they need, and other volunteers will provide support for the media and crew centres.
