Helmsley-Spear reports leases at Newark site.

Helmsley-Spear, Inc. is closing out 1992 with strong leasing activity at 744 Broad Street, the National Newark Building. Nine tenants have recently signed leases for a total of 39,200 square feet. Leon Topelsohn, HelmsleySpear vice president, made the announcement.

Transactions include DeMaria, Ellis, Hunt, Salsberg & Friedman, a law firm specializing in labor management and bankruptcy signing a lease renewal and expansion for 20,000 square feet; Sprint Communications Company, L.P., a telecommunications company that signed a new lease for 6,000 square feet; and, Fleming, Merrill & Roth, a law firm, for 6,000 square feet. Also completing transactions were Ravin Productions and The Moving Center, a music publishers and recording company for 1,000 square feet; Kevin C. Orr, Esquire, a new law firm who signed for 500 square feet; Andrew Goldstein, Esqire, a court receiver who opened an office of 700 square feet; Townley & Updike, a New York law firm signing for 500 square feet; and Anita Lang Walch, a bankruptcy attorney who signed for 500 square feet.

Athleisure Foot, Inc., a sporting goods and athletic wear store, signed for 4,000 square feet of retail space.

744 Broad Street, the National Newark Building, remains one of Newark's most famous office addresses and is listed in the National Historic Register. The 35-story building includes 566,000 square feet of commercial and retail space located in the heart of the downtown business district.
