Heineken increases beer production in Brazil.

Heineken increased its beer production in Brazil to one million packages of 24 units (bottles or cans) in 1992, up 31 percent from the previous year, according to the company's Brazilian marketing manager Ricardo Canella Dias. Brazilian brewery Cervejarias Kaiser owns the rights to produce Heineken in Brazil. Heineken holds 14 percent of Kaiser shares.

"The 31 percent increase was achieved despite the fact that Brazil's beer market shrank by about 25 percent in 1992, Canellaq said. "We intend to boost Heineken output by 60 percent in 1993."

Heineken is the leading brand in Brazil's premium beer market, with about 35 percent of sales. The premium market represents just two percent of the country's total beer market of 100 billion litres a year.
