Heifer International to partner with Elanco.

Heifer International last week announced a partnership with Elanco of Greenfield, Ind., which makes veterinary medicines and products to improve animal health and productivity.

Heifer, a nonprofit, and Elanco, a division of drug-maker Eli Lilly & Co., said the partnership will involve Elanco employees through "education, contribution, and participation" in Heifer's worldwide activities to fight hunger and poverty.

"How animals are raised is fundamental to the work of ending hunger and poverty around the world," the groups said in a joint statement. "Healthy animals help create healthy livelihoods, healthy communities, healthy futures. The coming together of Heifer International and Elanco helps complete the circle of possibility for hungry people everywhere; a shared commitment to providing trusted solutions--for animals and people alike."

Heifer works in more than 57 countries, including the United States, to help families and communities become more self-reliant.
