Mr. Pittard succeeds Robert E. Hallagan who completed two terms as CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . Mr. Hallagan was named Vice Chairman and will return to his search practice as well as lead the firm's joint venture, The Center for Board Leadership, formed with the National Association of Corporate Directors.

Mr. Pittard, who will serve for three years, joined the firm in 1983 following a career in banking and consulting and as an educator. Long a member of the firm's leadership structure, he was Managing Partner of the Atlanta office and Chairman of the Finance Committee, and was three times elected to its Executive Committee. He is currently a member of the Global Policy Committee and the Board of Directors of Heidrick & Struggles' Latin American and Asia Pacific companies.

His personal search practice has focused on CEOs and other members of general management. Some of his clients include: US Airways, BellSouth, Jefferson Pilot, National Service Industries, Sun Company Inc., and the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games.
