Heidrick & Struggles Elects Patrick S. Pittard President & CEO.

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 27, 1997--Heidrick & Struggles, Inc., the international executive search firm, today announced the election of Patrick S. Pittard as its President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Pittard, based in Atlanta, had been North American Managing Partner, overseeing the firm's 16 offices and nine specialty practices.

At the same time, the firm elected Lauren M. Doliva, a Director in the San Francisco office, and re-elected Thomas M. Mitchell, Managing Partner of the Los Angeles office, to its Executive Committee joining Mr. Pittard and David C. Anderson, Dallas; Gerald Clery-Melin, Paris; Thomas J. Friel, Menlo Park; David S. Joys, New York; P. Frederick Kahn, Chicago; Richard D. Nelson, Chicago; Gerard, R. Roche, New York; George A. Rossi, Boston; and John T. Thompson, Menlo Park.

Mr. Pittard succeeds Robert E. Hallagan who completed two terms as CEO. Mr. Hallagan was named Vice Chairman and will return to his search practice as well as lead the firm's joint venture, The Center for Board Leadership, formed with the National Association of Corporate Directors.

Mr. Pittard, who will serve for three years, joined the firm in 1983 following a career in banking and consulting and as an educator. Long a member of the firm's leadership structure, he was Managing Partner of the Atlanta office and Chairman of the Finance Committee, and was three times elected to its Executive Committee. He is currently a member of the Global Policy Committee and the Board of Directors of Heidrick & Struggles' Latin American and Asia Pacific companies.

His personal search practice has focused on CEOs and other members of general management. Some of his clients include: US Airways, BellSouth, Jefferson Pilot, National Service Industries, Sun Company Inc., and the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games.

Born and raised in Atlanta, Mr. Pittard graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens. He was named the 1995 Distinguished Alumnus by the University's School of Business. He holds or has held numerous professional and community leadership posts, including the presidency of an American Cancer Society Chapter, and board memberships on the University of Georgia Foundation, Atlanta Chamber of Commerce, Atlanta Ballet, Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and Atlanta Sports Council.
