), announced today that the Company had filed a regular utility patent application on May 25, 2001, with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as the subsequent step in the process to seek patent protection for its proprietary pornographic image detection and recognition software. The company had filed a provisional patent application in May 2000, entitled, "Evaluating Graphic Image Files For Objectionable Content."

The current patent pending technology is utilized as one of the key security features of Internet Safari(TM), the Company's recently released secure Internet browser for children.

Through the utilization of artificial intelligence, the patent-pending technology performs a real-time analysis of digitized images transmitted over the Internet, including Joint Photographic Experts Group (image, body, file format, standard) Joint Photographic Experts Group - (JPEG) The original name of the committee that designed the standard image compression algorithm. Heartsoft is exploring other applications for the use of its image and detection technology as well as the opportunities to license the patent-pending code for use in business and governmental agencies. The company will initially concentrate its efforts on evaluating the possibility of offering its technology as a plug-in to mitigate the amount of objectionable material received in the work place and thereby reducing the liability of businesses to sexual harassment complaints.
