Heartaches.

MOLDED FROM THE NEGLECTED SCRAPS of quintessential punk purity. Compressed by greasy, nail bitten hands scarred and bloodied from the rock and roll crusades. Forged in a misguided abuse of high voltage The term high voltage characterizes electrical circuits, in which the voltage used is the cause of particular safety concerns and insulation requirements. High voltage is used in electrical power distribution, in cathode ray tubes, to generate X-rays and particle beams, to  electricity and wound steel. These are the ways of the Heartaches, the most exciting punk combo of today. Their attack is a combo-nation of the crudeties from a vicious punk past where amps buzz with unforgiving noise, and aorta-wrenching pop is mangled unapologetically. A fierce Cro-Magnon ballet on a tightrope between severely inhibited chord thuggery and passionately tuneful rock and roll bliss. The Heartaches sized themselves in the dried cement handprints left by the Real Kids, the Saints, the Kinks, Elvis and a slew of classic '70s punk, and came away charged where their contemporaries can only face inadequacy. But beware. To assume that this heartbeat only pumps in dreams of sepia SEPIA - Standard ECRC Prolog Integrating Applications.  winners of the Cheeseburger Punk Awards, the real Heartaches. 1-2-3-4!

How long have the Heartaches been together?

We've been playing since 2000.

Does anyone else in the band skate?

Yes, everybody skates, some more then others. We just got a new bass player, Dean, and I'm not sure if he skates. I think he's just a rocker.

Has your music been in a soundtrack for a skate video?

Yes, Label Live, and maybe a Thrasher thrasher: see mimic thrush.

video. I can't really remember but I'm sure we have. I think I might try to skate to one of our songs in the new Label video.

Which bands influence you guys?

Well, I know a lot of the other guys are influenced by a lot of mid-'60s and late '60s punk rock and roll, and '70s punk rock. My biggest musical influence would be punk from the late '70s all the way through the late '80s.

Favorite band you could ever open up for?

Me personally, I don't think my band would agree, but I would love to play with the Dead Milkmen The Dead Milkmen (sometimes just Dead Milkmen) was a satirical punk band that formed in 1983 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The band consisted of Joe Jack Talcum (Joe Genaro; guitar, vocals), Dave Blood (Dave Schulthise; bass), Dean Clean (Dean Sabatino; drums), and Rodney  because they fucking rip. They fucking know what's up. In fact, when I get a little older it is already in the works that me and my friends are going to start a Dead Milkmen cover band. And may Dave Blood Dave Blood, (September 16, 1956 - March 10, 2004) otherwise known as Dave Schulthise, was the bassist for the punk band Dead Milkmen. He helped form the band in 1983 along with fellow pseudonymous musicians Joe Jack Talcum, Dean Clean, and Rodney Anonymous.  rest in peace.

Kristian, do you get a large following from being a pro skateboarder?

We're getting an interview in Thrasher mag because I skate, and I travel all around the world and I meet other skaters that know about the band because of me and skateboarding; however, we definitely have a scene of people that love the band because of the other guys in the band, and because they just like our music. If my name is going to help us by having somebody listen to our music or come to our show then that is cool. I guess any little bit helps. We do get some publicity and shit like that because of me and skateboarding, but it's not like we're trying to promote our band as some skate rock Skate rock is mainly a term used for rock, punk, emo and heavy metal bands, generally from the 1980s and the 1990s, who were involved in the sport of skateboarding. Some prime examples of skate rock bands are McRad, JFA, the Faction, the Big Boys, Agent Orange, Suicidal Tendencies,  type of band or anything. We are what we are, and it just so happens that I am a pro skateboarder. The band's not Kristian Svitak and the Heartaches. It is the Heartaches. Period. And I play drums in the Heartaches.

Have you or would you play the Warped Tour Warped Tour is a touring music and extreme sports festival. The tour is held in venues (generally parking lots or fields upon which the stages and other structures are erected). ?

Never played the Warped Tour, but we are down to play our music for whoever wants to listen.

Where have you played outside of San Diego?

Most of the shows we have played are all Southern California--San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles.

Because you (Kristian) travel a lot for skating, does that fuck up some of the band's plans?

Yeah. My traveling with skateboarding sometimes gets a little crazy and it makes it hard for us to practice and play shows sometimes but the other guys in the band are very understanding, because they know that I have to pay my bills too. And plus, when I go on tour I try to do whatever I can to promote the band, like sell CDs or shit like that.

Don't you have some new material coming out on Swami Records?

Yes, we have a new album coming out on Swami Records. It's our first release on a record label. That should be out, I am hoping, by October/November.

Any new bands that you guys are stoked stoked

 on?

The Atoms--they are really fucking good! I mean, they are just kids and they do a cover of a Devo song. How great is that?

Who in the band has been laid after a show because you play in the Heartaches?

What can I say? We have ladies throwing themselves at us left and right.... No, not really, because we're a bunch of ugly motherfuckers. Even the pro-hos don't fall for it.

Favorite skate rock band ever?

if these guys would be considered skate rock--I don't even know what skate rock is--I never really understood that, but I am going to have to go with Suicidal Tendencies. When I hear their first two albums I want to fucking shred.

Svitak, I know you're anal, but saving every skateboard you have ever ridden, do you save every drumstick drumstick /drum·stick/ (-stik) a nuclear lobule attached by a slender strand to the nucleus of some polymorphonuclear leukocytes of normal females but not of normal males.  too?

Yeah. Rhino, you're a fucking dick. I know I am definitely out of my mind, but not that out of my mind.
