Hearst Corp. (New York) has agreed to acquire a 20% equity stake in Fitch Group (New York), a subsidiary of Fimalac S.A. (Paris) and the parent company of Fitch Ratings and Algorithmics. Fitch Group is a global rating agency for the credit markets and covers issuers of 3800 financial institutions and more than 1700 corporate issuers in in more than 80 countries. It also rates the debt of more than 90 countries and maintains surveillance of over 78,000 municipal debt issuers.
