HEALTH SAVINGS ACCOUNTS: The number of banks offering health savings accounts (HSAs) has tripled to 1,100 since the end of 2005, according to media reports. Banks are also offering a wider variety of investment options for the account holders. For example, if consumers meet a minimum required balance, some banks are offering mutual funds for HSA investment. The number of HSA account holders was expected to swell to 3.6 million at the end of last year, up from 1.1 million at the end of 2005.
