Health innovation awards to become an annual event.


THE HEALTH Innovation Awards are to become an annual event due to the strong support for this year's awards. The inaugural awards attracted nearly 200 applications from health care and rehabilitation rehabilitation: see physical therapy.  providers around the country. Because of this support, the founding sponsors, the Accident Compensation Commission (ACC See adaptive cruise control. ) and the Ministry of Health, have decided to make the event annual. Entries are now being called for the 2004 awards.

The awards aim to "showcase innovation and excellence in health treatment, care and rehabilitation" and to promote ideas and solutions that could be transferred to health providers across New Zealand New Zealand (zē`lənd), island country (2005 est. pop. 4,035,000), 104,454 sq mi (270,534 sq km), in the S Pacific Ocean, over 1,000 mi (1,600 km) SE of Australia. The capital is Wellington; the largest city and leading port is Auckland.  and internationally, according to according to

Applications are invited from individuals, groups, and organisations in public health, accident and emergency care, general practice, disability services, community care and primary care and rehabilitation. There are three entry categories: individual (one to five people); group five to 20 people); and organisation (20 or more people). Category winners will be eligible for the Supreme Award with a prize of $15,000. Winners will be announced at a special ceremony in Te Papa Te Papa (Māori: Our Place) can signify:
  • Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, a museum in Wellington (Wellington Region, New Zealand)
  • Te Papa, Tuvalu, a cape in Nanumanga (Tuvalu)
