Health centre opens in Gimli.


GIMLI, MB -- Gimli Community Health Centre, a new facility that will provide access to care for residents of Gimli and the surrounding region, was officially opened by Premier Gary Doer Gary Albert Doer, MLA (born March 31, 1948) is a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He has been the Premier of Manitoba since 1999, leading a New Democratic Party government. Doer is the longest-serving of Canada's current premiers. .

The Centre is part of the Interlake Regional Health Authority Interlake Regional Health Authority is the governing body for healthcare regulation in an area of the Canadian province of Manitoba. The area region includes the communities of:
  • Arborg
  • Ashern
  • Fisher Branch
  • Gimli
  • Lundar
  • Riverton
  • Selkirk
.

The $13 million construction and renovation project includes:

* 14 acute, four special and two palliative care palliative care (paˑ·lē·ā·tiv kerˑ),
n an approach to health care that is concerned primarily with attending to physical and emotional comfort rather
 beds;

* a separate entrance and dedicated space for emergency arrivals and treatment;

* added space for community service programs, mental health services health services Managed care The benefits covered under a health contract , family services and seniors resource services; and

* redevelopment and expansion in treatment, diagnostic and rehabilitation services;

Community and provincial funds support the project.
