Health Care Systems Integration Expert, DSS, Inc. Purchases Minnesota Technology Company, Sage HMS.

JUNO BEACH, Fla. -- Document Storage Systems, Inc. (DSS([R]), Inc.), a leader in providing software integration for health care information systems, announced its purchase of Minnesota-based Sage Health Management Solutions, Inc. (Sage HMS), a privately-held, evidence-based health care technology company and developers of the patented tool, RadWise([R]). Under the terms of the new agreement, Sage HMS becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary of DSS, Inc.

"We will offer the RadWise technology as an integrated addition to our VistA and vxVistA hospital information system product suites. Sage will continue to sell the technology as a stand-alone solution and as a module that can be integrated into other vendors systems."

RadWise is an expert system that provides clinicians with evidence-based ordering recommendations based on the patient's diagnosis, symptoms and procedure requested. By ensuring that the appropriate procedures are ordered, RadWise can improve quality and outcomes, as well as, reduce the estimated 30-40% of healthcare costs that are attributed to inappropriate test orders.

RadWise is a secure, encrypted Internet based tool that can be implemented inside or outside of an institution's firewall and can be integrated with existing practice management or radiology information systems.
