System (CASS CASS Cardiology, cardiovascular surgery A randomized, open label, multicenter trial that compared the outcomes of CABG vs. medical therapy on M&M in Pts with coronary artery disease after an MI. See Angina, CABG, Silent ischemia. ). The new model was designed to easily obtain readings from hard-to-reach areas, such as in between drums and compartments in tanker trucks.

The new CASS unit was unveiled at the Security Summit, a chemical industry meeting sponsored by the Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association (SOCMA SOCMA Synthetic Organic Chemical Manufacturers Association ) and the American Chemistry Council The American Chemistry Council (ACC), formerly known as the Chemical Manufacturers' Association, is an industry trade association for American chemical companies.

. Attendees were able to see CASS identify chemicals in sealed containers and detect contraband. CASS can be used to quickly inspect all inbound trucks into chemical plants to help mitigate terrorist attacks.

The new CASS model is lighter in weight, more compact, and easier to maneuver which allows for quick readings. The latest model also comes with a longer lasting lithium battery and a velcro strap which secures the unit on the users hand. In addition, the casing is made from a new shock proof, high strength plastic, making it more sturdy in the field.

"The administration recently agreed with Congress that there should be legislation regarding chemical plant security," said Robert Tillson, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of HMSI. "Chemical companies will need an efficient way to inspect inbound trucks carrying hazardous chemicals. CASS can reduce the costs, risk, time and injuries associated with these inspections, while at the same time increasing security."

Benefits of CASS include: quick examination of typical chemical containers (drums, barrels, pipelines and tanker trucks); the ability to determine content and fill levels without opening containers; the power to distinguish similar from dissimilar container contents; and the detection of hidden compartments and submerged contraband.

The technology behind CASS was developed by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory The Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) is one of nine United States Department of Energy (DOE) multiprogram national laboratories. The laboratory
