Hays to retire.


Ralph Hays, chief of Park Police for the Johnson County Johnson County is the name of several counties in the United States:

  • Johnson County, Kansas
  • Johnson County, Kentucky
 Park and Recreation District in Kansas, will retire at the end of 2005 after more than 30 years of service. Under his leadership, he has guided the department into being one of the most respected park police units in the country.

Hays is nationally recognized in the field of park law enforcement. He is a founding member of the Park Law Enforcement Association (PLEA) and its Kansas chapter, KPLEA. PLEA is a recognized affiliate of NRPA NRPA National Recreation and Park Association
NRPA Natural Resources Protective Association (Staten Island, NY)
NRPA Niagara Regional Police Association (Canada)
NRPA National Rifle and Pistol Association
, and KPLEA is affiliated with the Kansas Recreation and Park Association (KRPA KRPA Kirtland Regional Police Academy (Kirtland Community College) ). Hays has served on the board of both organizations.

Hays has presented numerous sessions at various NRPA Congresses, and was also recognized by PLEA with a Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2001, he was awarded the KRPA Outstanding Professional Award.

Hays was appointed the district's chief ranger Ranger

Any of a series of unmanned probes launched from 1961 to 1965 by NASA. The project was NASA's earliest attempt to explore the Moon's surface. Ranger 4 (1962) became the first U.S. spacecraft to hit the Moon, crash-landing on its surface as planned.
 in 1982. He had been employed as a law enforcement officer with the district since 1973. His appointment in 1982 was during the district's successful transition and incorporation of a district-wide program expanding cultural and environmental education and outdoor skills instruction.
