"Set up a sprinkler in your backyard and invite some friends over. You can even make a Slip 'N Slide with a bib blue tarp (your 'rents might have one). Better yet, fill up some water balloons and have a friendly battle with your gal pals!"

Before ya know it, you'll be hittin' the hallways again for the first day of school, wonderin' where summer went. Don't let that happen to you! We've compiled the best ideas from real GL gals on how to make this summer super sweet.

"Nature walks are fun to do alone or with friends. Walk around your neighborhood or local park and admire the scenery. Bring" a camera along to take pictures of things you find interesting."

"Plan, plan, plan! Sign up for summer camp, earn some extra cash with a summer job or take an art class at the community center. But always leave a few weeks open here and there for those random times when your friends want to go to the mall, so you don't always have to say, 'Sorry, I'm busy.'"

"You know Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants? I did a Sisterhood of the Traveling t-shirt with my three best buds. We wrote letters to each other and mailed the shirt along. It was a great way to stay in touch, and the shirt really did seem to have a piece of all of us in it."

"My favorite thing to do with my friends in the summer is to go to the pool, splash around for a bit, then go get smoothies. After that, we'll just walk around our neighborhood, drying in the sun. It's mellow and fun."

"My advice for a great summer is to go to sleepaway camp if you can. I'm almost in ninth grade, and I still talk to a friend I made the summer before fourth grade. Some of my very best friend are front camp because I can e-mail and IM them secrets I would never tell anyone here."

"When my friends and I are bored, we ride our bikes to the shoe store and buy some amazing shoes. Then, we practice walking in them. Once we master our walk, we go out to a movie or something fun to show off our fabulous feet and just look cute. Trust me, it's a blast."

"I have a huge sleepover with all my friends. We joke around, scope out bogs in our neighborhood (like you don't do that!) and grow bonds that can never be broken."

"During summer vacation, it's really easy to not talk to some friends as much. Plan a hang-out day, like Friday. It's so fun, and you have tons to talk about!"

"My friends and I have a sleepover the night school ends. Then we shop and go to the pool all summer!"

"If you and your BFF are going to be away from each other this summer, write in an e-journal if you want to keep in touch. For each day, put pictures on the page or you can just write what happened so the other person can read it. Once you are both together again, you can print it out and have a record of the whole summer."

"Camp out with friends in your backyard. Set up a tent and bring sleeping bags, yummy food, flashlights and, of course, boy gossip. Toast marshmallows and make s'mores!"

"Go to concerts with your friends. Each of your BFFs can pick their favorite band and find out if they're playing close by. When you have the list, go as a group! This is a great way to discover new music or show your fave band how much you love them. It's also fun bonding time with your best buds--how else can you all sing loudly in public without anyone caring?
