Hatton v. Bonner.


U.S. Appeals Court

SEX OFFENDER sex offender n. generic term for all persons convicted of crimes involving sex, including rape, molestation, sexual harassment and pornography production or distribution.  

Hatton v. Bonner, 346 F.3d 938 (9th Cir. 2003). An offender petitioned for habeas relief, asserting ex post facto ex post facto adj. Latin for "after the fact," which refers to laws adopted after an act is committed making it illegal although it was legal when done, or increases the penalty for a crime after it is committed. Such laws are specifically prohibited by the U. S.  and due process violations. The district court denied the petition and the petitioner appealed.
