 Holdings to take over the 185-room Quality Hotel, located at First Avenue and 22nd Street in downtown Saskatoon. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

"One of the joys of a family business like Airline Motor Hotels is watching people progress through the organization and take on expanded responsibilities," Latrace-Henderson said. "Judy brings to the Quality Hotel her passion for both customer service and community service."

Harwood began her career at the Travelodge in 1977, after moving from Toronto. For the last 14 years she has been executive assistant manager. She is active in the community and was honored this year with the Queen's Golden Jubilee For the diamond, see .

Airline Motor Hotels has aggressive redevelopment plans for the Quality Hotel. Significant capital will be invested in a long-term plan to bring the hotel's guest rooms and related facilities up to date. For the 110 staff of the Quality Hotel, it's business as usual, Harwood said.

Purchase of the Quality Hotel by Airline Motor Hotels was in the works for more than one year and followed a decision by the company's board of directors to seek acquisitions that expand its Saskatoon hotel holdings. Airline Motor Hotels' roots in Saskatoon's hotel sector go back to 1972 when the late Harold Latrace, Betty-Anne's father, opened the Travelodge Hotel and Convention Centre at Idylwyld and Circle Drive. The Travelodge has continually expanded over the years and today offers 268 rooms and employs more than 200 people.

The Quality Hotel, originally a Holiday Inn, was built in the early 1970s following construction of the Midtown Plaza.
