Harwick V.P. Semonin to retire.John E. Semonin, vice president technical and operations of Harwick Standard Distribution, will retire March 31. Semonin's career in the polymer industry spans more than 35 years. Prior to his career with Harwick, he worked for General Tire The General Tire and Rubber Company is an American manufacturer of tires for motor vehicles. General Tire was founded in 1915 in Akron, Ohio by William F. O'Neil. In 1943 General Tire branched out from its core business by purchasing the Yankee Network and the radio stations for 19 years, holding several positions, and he ultimately became manager, truck and off-road ,as well as being in charge of a joint venture consisting of General Tire, Toyo Tire and Yokohama Tire. Semonin joined Hatwick in 1991 as technical director, and in 1998, he became vice president. Semonin chaired several committees of the Rubber Division of the American Chemical Society The American Chemical Society (ACS) is a learned society (professional association) based in the United States that supports scientific inquiry in the field of chemistry. Founded in 1876 at New York University, the ACS currently has over 160,000 members at all degree-levels and in and was a past chair for the Akron Rubber Group.
