Harris Corporation Selected As Preferred Supplier For Canadian Forces Communications and Information Services.

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS) today announced that it has been selected by SNC-Lavalin PAE, Inc., as its preferred supplier of communications and information services for deployed Canadian Forces. The Harris contract is part of a larger C$200 million Canadian Forces Contractor Augmentation Program (CANCAP) awarded to SNC-Lavalin PAE in December 2002. The CANCAP program is designed to supply Canadian deployed military forces with private, contractor-provided communications services when required by the Canadian Department of National Defence (DND).

Under terms of the five-year contract with SNC-Lavalin PAE, Harris will provide integration and provisioning services required to establish secure voice, video and data communications during global deployments of Canada's military forces. Depending upon specific deployment requirements, Harris may also supply specific packages such as communications hardware and satellite communications services. Some of the first services may be required as early as this summer.

CANCAP satellite communications will be provided by Harris Maritime Communication Services (MCS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Melbourne, Florida-based Harris Corporation. MCS builds and operates communication networks for oceangoing and land-based customers around the world.

Harris Canada already serves as the prime contractor on a 10-year program to provide hardware and software support, and avionics repair services for the DND's CF-18 aircraft. The work is performed at the Harris Consolidated Automatic Test Equipment Facility (CATEF) in Calgary, Alberta. The facility, opened in 1999, is the first of its kind, serving as a centralized depot and life cycle management support center for the CF-18 avionics system.
