Harris Corporation Integrates Vulnerabilities Standard Into STAT Security Software; First Windows NT Security Tool to be Fully CVE Compatible.

Harris Corporation, a leading provider of security software solutions, announced today that it has fully integrated the new Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) standard into its Security Test and Analysis Tool (STAT(tm)). STAT is a comprehensive Windows NT(R) network defense system that allows administrators to quickly identify and eliminate network security deficiencies that can result in hacker intrusions.

CVE standardizes the name and definition of all publicly known vulnerabilities and information security exposures, making it easier for organizations to share data between separate vulnerability databases and security tools. CVE content is determined by the CVE Editorial Board, which consists of representatives of more than 20 security-related organizations and vendors. The MITRE Corporation moderates all Editorial Board discussions and maintains CVE standards. Harris, an early member of the board, is a key contributor in defining Windows NT vulnerabilities.

STAT is capable of detecting more than 850 Windows NT vulnerabilities. It offers users a complete Windows NT CVE configuration file and displays each vulnerability with its appropriate CVE name. Using STAT, network administrators can perform analysis of a single machine or an entire domain with a single mouse click. STAT users can update their vulnerability databases monthly from the STATonline web site.

STAT was originally developed by Harris Government Communications Systems Division to aid key government and defense customers in protecting their critical infrastructure. The commercial version of STAT was introduced in November 1998. The latest release, STAT 3.0, was made available in February 2000.
