Harris Corporation Awarded Cockpit Digital Map Contract for Italian EH-101 Helicopter.

Harris Corporation (NYSE:HRS), a world leader in cockpit digital moving maps for military aircraft, announced today that it has been awarded a multi-million dollar contract by Agusta, Cascina Costa, Italy, to provide the Digital Map System (DMS) for the Italian Navy's fleet of EH-101 anti-submarine helicopters. The DMS provides the EH-101 with real-time, advanced terrain visualization data via cockpit displays, assisting the aircraft's flight crew with critical navigation and situational awareness capabilities specifically tailored for the helicopter's unique mission.

The EH-101 DMS includes the Harris Modular Digital Map Computer (DMC), the Smiths Industries Advanced Memory Unit (AMU), and a High-Speed Interface (HSI) cable between the DMC and AMU. The DMS eliminates the need for cumbersome navigational paper maps in the cockpit by electronically displaying, in real-time, a wide variety of map scales and formats on easy-to-use cockpit displays within the pilot's reach. The DMS provides moving ground displays for flight path routing, threat masking, line-of-sight calculations, target locations, and terrain height.

The EH-101 is a joint-development between Agusta and GKN-Westland Helicopters. The program is managed through EH Industries, a company owned on a 50/50 basis by the two companies.
