Harriette Watkins, President of AGL Resources Foundation, to Retire.


ATLANTA -- Harriette Watkins, a five-year veteran of AGL Resources AGL Resources, Inc. is a Fortune 1000, Forbes 2000 energy services holding company. Their principal business is distribution of natural gas in Florida, Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, Tennessee and Virginia, providing gas for more than 2.2 million customers.  who spent 25 years in community affairs in metro Atlanta, announced she will retire in early July. Watkins has been known for her community service work, serving on numerous boards and foundations and representing the company with charitable organizations.

"Harriette had a keen eye for making sure AGL Resources devoted its dollars and talent to those most in need in the community," said Kevin Madden, executive vice president, external affairs of AGL Resources. "She has achieved remarkable milestones in her five years with the company, which will benefit others for years to come."

Watkins began her career with AGL Resources in 2001. Her number one goal upon joining the company was to develop a strategic focus for the company's philanthropic efforts. She said achieving that goal has been among her proudest achievements at the company.

Watkins also raised the profile of the company's longstanding Shining Light Award, bringing the 63-year old program back to the forefront in the Atlanta community. "I am so proud to have been associated with AGL Resources," Watkins said. "The generosity of spirit and the outpouring of love and caring from the company's employees overwhelmed me all the time, but most notably during the aftermath of September 11, and Hurricanes Rita and Katrina."

During her free time, Watkins is active in a number of civic and community organizations.

She is the 2005-06 Chairman of Leadership Atlanta. She serves on the boards of directors of Peachtree National Bank, Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Atlanta Botanical Gardens, and Partners in Education.
