It has recently been merged with the University of Colorado at Denver (UCD) to form the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center.  and the Denver Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Denver, Colorado.  for which HTTD holds the international marketing rights, except for South Korea. The Sponsored Research and Development Agreement that HTTD plans to establish with The University of Colorado and Veteran's Affairs Medical Center will follow a focused agenda to assess novel uses for Tubercin(R). It is expected that these studies will considerably expand the potential clinical applications of this substance, while focusing on the treatment of important diseases using Tubercin(R). The testing to be performed will include experiments that directly examine the effects of Tubercin(R) on various human diseases under controlled laboratory conditions. Additional studies will use specially designed cells that isolate specific steps in the process of infection, and this will enable the research team to discern the mechanism of action of Tubercin(R). White cells freshly-isolated from blood will also be used to assess Tubercin(R) activity in models of disease. These investigations of fresh human cells will provide "real life" models of disease in the presence of Tubercin(R), and the resultant data will be used to assess the potential applicability of Tubercin(R) in patient care. The Agreement with the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and the Denver Veteran's Affairs Medical Center will have a two year term. Although these intensive studies will focus on the activity of Tubercin(R) in diseases, additional tests will explore alternative, and as yet unknown, applications for Tubercin(R). It is expected that preliminary data relevant to the use of Tubercin(R) in treating a variety of diseases will become available within the first 6 months of the investigations. Tubercin(R) is a natural substance that is derived from the external cell wall of a specific microorganism microorganism /mi·cro·or·gan·ism/ (-or´gah-nizm) a microscopic organism; those of medical interest include bacteria, fungi, and protozoa. . Tubercin(R) possesses unique immunological properties that HTTD and its research partners have only just begun to explore. , the effects of Tubercin(R) on the human body may likely extend to the treatment of a variety of diseases. In carefully controlled studies in animals and in preliminary human studies, Tubercin(R) has demonstrated remarkable safety. Should the collaborative laboratory results indicate that Tubercin(R) has activity against diseases in patients, HTTD will make a strategic decision on which clinical applications to pursue.
