The company is currently in the process of being bought by Pearson. No terms were given. With operations in Holland, Germany, France and the UK, STI is a publisher in the fields of human resource management, health care and education, offering products and services for the testing market. The STI companies will be integrated into Harcourt Assessment International (London), a unit of HAI. The STI acquisition is Harcourt's second international purchase. In April, 2002, the company, then known as Psychological Corp., acquired Les Editions du Centre de Pyschologie Appliquee (ECPA (Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986) Signed into law in 1986, the ECPA extends legal protection against wiretapping and other forms of unauthorized interception to e-mail, cellular telephones, pagers, computer transmissions and communications ; Paris). The deal also closely follows Swets & Zeitlinger's sale of its Swets & Zeitlingers Publishers unit to Taylor & Francis (London) in November.
