Happy anniversary. (reader forum).

Happy 35th anniversary to The Advocate, and congratulations on one of the most informative and interesting issues yet [November 12]. Reading the many happenings of the past brought back so many memories, from Stonewall stone·wall

to the AIDS crisis and so much more.

My son, Vito [author of The Celluloid Closet: Homosexuality in the Movies], would call me with each and every happening, the problems and the pain gays and lesbians had to endure; it was so painful to hear him tell about it. I was so proud of Vito, of how he stood up for what he believed in. He never gave up his fight for gay tights--he was magnificent!

November 7 marked 12 years that Vito has been gone. He loved writing for The Advocate; the staff was always so good to him. The Advocate always told it the way it was, with no holds barred. So here's to 35 more wonderful years!

piece of writing. How she could convey in so inspiring a way the scope of The Advocate's history and our community's major events and some of our major players on a single page is amazing. It is really beautiful work.

I've been reading The Advocate for 22 years of its 35. Judy's letter is a wonderful birthday gift to a resilient, enduring, and terrific magazine.

Congratulations, many thanks, and right on to The Advocate On this important milestone. It's politic to reassure 35-year-olds how great they look--or still look. It's usually true; it certainly is in this case. We've all grown some too.
