Hans Communications, a Korean-based company, has already deployed an 87 km optical backbone infrastructure in Mongolia in support of advanced networking services, and is in the process of building-out that network with an additional 250 km of optical cables anticipated for access. As Hans Communications transitions to systems implementation, they have partnered with SejongNT to initially install 100 units of Amedia's QoStream PG1000 Premises Gateways. Hans anticipates that this deployment will continue to expand following the systems integration phase of the build-out and the performance acceptance of Hans Communications. Hans anticipates a Triple Play service capability that could ultimately serve 20,000 subscribers over the next three years.

At an October 6th opening ceremony at the Mongolian Presidential House Square, Mr. Lee, President of Hans Communications noted the benefits afforded by these services to the citizens of Mongolia, and commented, "Communications are the lifeblood of any nation, and no parcel of land can be exempt from participating in the networking revolution for reasons of remoteness or population size. Fortunately, technology such as that provided by Amedia Networks, is proving sufficiently cost-effective and beneficial to enable us to undertake this historic effort here in Mongolia."

SejongNT will provide the network integration for the Amedia Networks solution. Mr. DongNam Choi, President of SejongNT noted, "We were quite pleased when, a little over a month ago, we entered into a relationship with Amedia as their distributor in Korea. We were familiar with their products and services, and knew them to be outstanding in terms of their quality, capabilities, and economics. In addition, they have a superb team of managers and engineers. In supporting Hans Communications, we knew that the QoStream products from Amedia would be a perfect fit."

Amedia's QoStream products, which include the PG1000 Premises Gateway and the AS5000 Aggregation Switch, deliver up to 100 Mbps of Ultra-broadband services - both upstream and downstream. The products have the industry's leading capability to provision multiple levels of bandwidth quality as appropriate for each service, and are designed to offer carrier-grade performance and reliability. The products can be implemented in multiple configurations, and can offer voice, video and data - including wireless LAN A local area network that transmits over the air typically in the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz unlicensed frequency band. It does not require line of sight between sender and receiver. Wireless base stations (access points) are wired to an Ethernet network and transmit a radio frequency over an area  services. The QoStream Director enables a carrier to provision and manage services with a single seat, point and click interface that can be located remotely from the service center.
