Red and Lance have been best friends ever since Red moved to Alderton, Canada. Each of them harbors a painful secret that they can't even share with the other. In his anger and pain, Lance turns away from Red, and starts hanging out with dangerous characters. Red must find a way to repair their friendship before Lance self-destructs and he loses him forever. This novel deals with important themes, such as friendship, drug abuse, and the relationships between mothers and sons. The writing style is easy to read and understand. However, the characters of Lance and Red are not fully believable be·liev·a·ble adj. Capable of eliciting belief or trust. See Synonyms at plausible. be·liev a·bil as 15-year-olds. In many situations, they act much younger. The cover art also makes the book appear dated, so it might be hard to convince teen readers to take a chance on this story. It was initially difficult to figure out what time period the book was set in.
