Halogenated elastomeric compositions having enhanced viscosity.

U.S. patent: 7,019,058

Issued: March 28, 2006

Inventors: Hsien-Chang Wang, Andy H. Tsou, Ilan Duvdevani and Michael K. Lyon

Assigned: ExxonMobil Chemical

Key statement: The invention provides a method for increasing the viscosity of [C.sub.4]-[C.sub.7] isoolefin copolymers including halomethylstyrene derived units by mixing the copolymer copolymer: see polymer.  with a hindered amine Hindered amines are chemical compounds conatining an amine functional group surrounded by a crowded steric environment. They have uses such as gas scrubbing, as stabilizers against light-induced degradation of polymers, and as reagents for organic synthesis.  or phosphine phosphine

1. PH3, a toxic war gas called hydrogen phosphide.

2. a coal tar dye; called Philadelphia yellow.
