"He is a wonderful example of both business and community leadership," said Bruce Willison, dean of UCLA's Anderson School Anderson School may refer to:

 of Business, which bears Anderson's name due to a $15 million contribution he gave the school.

In his acceptance speech, Anderson related his business philosophy over the years, which has largely been hands-off, leaving many of the details of management to trusted executives.

Anderson also praised three women for his success: his wife Marion; his secretary of 41 years, Therese Curtis; and the chief financial officer of his automotive group, Susan Murata.
