Hall of Fame: David and Gail Liniger: RE/MAX International, Inc. this award, International Franchise Association's oldest and most prestigious, is presented to an IFA member, past or present, who exemplifies the optimum in franchising and has contributed significantly to the advancement of franchising and the franchising community.David Liniger Chairman of the Board and Co-founder RE/MAX International, Inc. David Liniger became interested in real estate while stationed in Phoenix with the U.S. Air Force. After working for both a commission company and a traditional brokerage, he co-founded RE/MAX in Denver in 1973. Liniger is an expert in time management, sales training, recruiting and motivation. He is a recipient of the Special Achievement Award from the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors, and the Warren Bennis Award for Leadership Excellence from the Global Institute for Leadership Development. Liniger has been inducted into the Council of Real Estate Brokerage Managers Hall of Leaders and the Real Estate Buyer's Agent Council Hall of Fame. A commercial pilot, golfer and Arabian horse breeder, Liniger has been a NASCAR driver and owned Team RE/MAX Racing. He is co-owner of the Sanctuary Golf Course near Sedalia, Colo., which has raised millions of dollars through golf charity events since opening in 1997. Liniger is co-founder of a Denver-area conservation center, the Wildlife Experience, a 14-acre facility located south of Denver that serves as an educational center to promote wildlife. That year, she was promoted to vice president, became executive vice president in 1978, elected president in 1979, named chief executive officer in 1991 and in 2002 was named vice chairman of the board. In 1988, she was recognized as one of the top 10 U.S. women for her outstanding achievement in business, the arts and public service. In 1989, she was awarded Entrepreneur of the Year for the state of Colorado in the real estate and construction category by the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young, and Inc. magazine. Liniger is a licensed Colorado real estate broker and holds several realtor designations including Certified Residential Broker and is a recipient of the Special Achievement Award from the Council of Residential Specialists, the largest not-for-profit affiliate of the National Association of Realtors. An avid golfer, Liniger is co-owner of Sanctuary Golf Course where numerous charity golf tournaments have raised millions of dollars. She is co-founder of a Denver-area conservation center, The Wildlife Experience. Her almost miraculous recovery from the near-fatal crash of a small, private airplane in 1983 has served to inspire and motivate people both inside and outside the organization.
