Haflingers have it all.We are homesteaders in Florida. We raise our own meat, eggs and garden. Horses have always been my passion. I have trained many breeds, but the ones I have now and will forever on, are Haflingers. They are really big ponies. Draft ponies. I find them to be the perfect homestead pony--they are very gentle and smart. We ride and drive, and I hope to plow plow or plough, agricultural implement used to cut furrows in and turn up the soil, preparing it for planting. We have tried lots of different harnesses and find it's worth the extra money to buy a good used leather one, than to buy a cheap nylon nylon, synthetic thermoplastic material characterized by strength, elasticity, resistance to abrasion and chemicals, low moisture absorbency, and capacity to be permanently set by heat.
