Summary: A scientist working on the Hadron hadron

Any of the subatomic particles that are built from quarks and thus interact via the strong force. The hadrons fall into two groups: mesons and baryons. Except for protons and neutrons, which are bound in nuclei, all hadrons have short lives and are produced in

A scientist working on the Hadron Collider "big bang" project in Switzerland has been arrested on suspicion of terror links.

The man, who has not been named, is one of two Algerian brothers arrested in Vienne in southeastern France on Thursday suspected of links to al-Qaeda's north African wing.

The European Organisation for Nuclear Research (CERN CERN or European Organization for Nuclear Research, nuclear and particle physics research center straddling the French-Swiss border W of Geneva, Switzerland. ) said the suspect had been working on an experiment in particle physics as a contractor since 2003.

CERN said in a statement: "His work did not bring him into contact with anything that could be used for terrorism."
