HYUNDAI EXTENDS FREE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM FOR 1993 DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Hyundai Motor America's successful ValueCare Ownership Program, extended for the 1993 model year covering the entire Hyundai line-up, continues to focus on providing customer satisfaction.
"During the first year of the ValueCare Ownership Program, the feedback from Hyundai customers was very positive," said D.O. Chung, president of Hyundai Motor America. "Customer satisfaction is the key element that will distinguish auto manufacturers from one another -- it is working toward supporting the value of the Hyundai brand."
The ValueCare program consists of two years or 24,000-mile coverage on every 1993 Hyundai product. This is in addition to Hyundai's normal three-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper and five- year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
The cost of normal scheduled maintenance service including tire rotation, given at 7,500-, 15,000- and 22,500-mile intervals, is covered. This alone results in consumer savings of scheduled maintenance costs normally incurred at a dealership and serves as an incentive for customers to maintain their vehicles in top operating condition and, ultimately, a higher resale value.
Marketing research indicated that ValueCare captured the attention of those cross-shopping Hyundai vehicles:
1). Among people aware of ValueCare, purchase consideration was
15 percent higher than those who weren't aware.
2). Improvements in image enhancement was shown in terms of
 customer confidence and corporate commitment.
3). Warranty coverage and free maintenance were top purchase
 incentives for buying a Hyundai.
4). An overwhelming Hyundai dealer response.
"This shows commitment to the product and loyalty to the consumers. Hyundai is confident the vehicles will increase in value, now and in the future, since the maintenance is virtually free," said Mike Whitman, director of service and consumer market development.
Hyundai products for 1993 include the Excel, a popular subcompact economy car; the youthful, fun-to-drive Scoupe and new for 1993, the Scoupe Turbo; the stylish subcompact Elantra and Hyundai's largest car, the mid-size Sonata.
All 1993 Hyundai automobiles are available at 500 dealers coast to coast.
