HYPERION SOFTWARE PRODUCT SUCCESSES, TECHNOLOGY ADVANCES PRESIDE AT USER CONFERENCE; 1,500 ATTENDEES, 700 COMPANIES PARTICIPATE; Customers, Analysts Praise New Hyperion Financials Accounting Line; Interest Level High on New Corporate Planning Budgeting Capabilities.
Customers from Hyperion Software's 2,000-company user base had more than 125 different breakout sessions to select from and a variety of new, updated and/or recently acquired software products to test drive. More than 1,000 customers attended a total of 15 different user-to-user sessions, 800 performed test drives on the Hyperion Pillar line of corporate planning and budgeting products, and 500 customers viewed demonstrations of Hyperion Financials, the company's new client/server-based accounting software.
"None of the people I've talked to here are surprised that Hyperion Software is delivering on the comprehensive solution strategy that it outlined to us at last year's conference," said Mike Gower, associate chief financial officer, Duke University Medical Center. "To my knowledge, Hyperion Software's track record and commitment to this market makes them the only vendor able to produce this level of financial software. We were pleased to see so much of this software at the conference."
Hyperion Software markets three major groups of client/server-based financial management and accounting software that is positioned to provide the most comprehensive solution for CFOs. Two of the three product groups -- Hyperion Enterprise for financial analysis and reporting, and the Hyperion Pillar line of corporate planning and budgeting products -- already hold number-one rankings in their product categories. Hyperion Financials is the third and newest addition to the company's product set.
The appeal of Hyperion Software's comprehensive solution is validated by the number of current customers interested in adding additional Hyperion Software products to those they already own. "It's exciting to see how you can build a full solution, by adding to other Hyperion Software applications," Gower said.
Gower also said that he had talked with several other Hyperion Software customers about the timing of moving their legacy accounting systems into new client/server-based solutions. "Based on what we saw here, I think many people will want to get started with this new Hyperion Financials line, and will be looking for the remainder of the product line to complete their accounting solution."
Several financial analysts attending Hyperion Software's User Conference, such as W. Christopher Mortenson, managing director, Alex. Brown & Sons Incorporated, noted the overall enthusiasm of the extensive blue chip customer base. "We were positively impressed by the upbeat tone of the sessions and a number of testimonials we heard. We believe the company is extremely well positioned as a leading supplier of client/server-based financial applications -- with a strong product line expansion story that is now beginning to roll out."
A prominent technology analyst attending the event added that "the turnout and enthusiasm evident at the user conference underscores Hyperion Software's strong hold at the high level of many prominent organizations -- which will be the key to driving the company's new accounting products forward."
Hyperion Software also holds an annual customer conference in Europe to focus on the software solution needs of its customers outside of the United States. The company operates in 23 countries.
ACCOUNTING CUSTOMERS ATTEST TO SATISFACTION
Customers of the new Hyperion Financials software chronicled their satisfaction with the robust new client/server line which the company promises to be the best accounting solution in the industry.
"We're absolutely on target with the system's conversion," said Samir Gabriel, manager of accounting for Cone Mills, the world's largest producer of denim fabrics, the largest exporter of apparel fabrics and one of America's leading specialty textile manufacturers.
"The data loading and conversion process is going smoothly and the graphical report writer is better than any other software we've seen on the market. We can write and print summary level reports in a matter of minutes, then modify and reprint again effortlessly. If companies think Hyperion Enterprise's reporting capabilities are great, just wait until they see what Hyperion Financials can do," Gabriel said.
Gabriel, who in February was one of several customers endorsing Hyperion Financials, updated his opinions of the products and his experiences with Hyperion Software in general. "This was a great choice for us," Gabriel said. "From both a technology and service perspective, we continue to give Hyperion Software a high rating for their new software line."

"Hyperion Financials gives an enterprise the opportunity to control the detailed collection and reporting of day-to-day business transactions with an architecture that is free of legacy system biases."
