HUNTINGTON BANKS INTRODUCE REVOLUTIONARY INSTANT ANSWER LOAN PROGRAM

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- At the forefront of revolutionizing customer service, The Huntington National Bank is proud to introduce the Instant Answer Loan Program. Effective Monday, Oct. 4, individuals throughout the state of Ohio will be able to receive immediate answers to installment loan applications by calling a Personal Banker at Huntington Direct (800-480-BANK).
"We are proud to deliver exactly what customers want -- the ability to receive an immediate answer to a loan request," said Richard L. (Ike) Stage, executive vice president and manager of Huntington Direct. "Within moments of calling, a Huntington Direct Personal Banker provides an answer, significantly speeding up the time in which customers receive their money."
The first step in providing an instant response to a loan request is to have the customer provide a Huntington Direct Personal Banker with minimal financial information. While the customer is still on the phone, the Personal Banker obtains an instantaneous credit report. The Huntington Direct Personal Banker then consults with a loan underwriter in making the final decision. The entire process, in most cases, will take less than eight minutes. According to Stage, "We know of no other bank in Ohio which currently provides its customers with this unique service."
Huntington Direct, known for its slogan "We're Always Here," delivers both consultative sales and service any time of the day or night, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This innovative way of banking was introduced in May 1992 as a means of providing the ultimate convenience to customers.
Huntington Bancshares Incorporated (NSADAQ: HBAN) is a $16 billion regional bank holding company headquartered in Columbus, Ohio. The company's banking subsidiaries operate 310 offices in Ohio, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia.
