HUNT FOR ROBBER COMES UP SHORT DEPUTIES COMB QUIET WEST LANCASTER NEIGHBORHOOD.

About five deputies accompanied by a search dog focused their attention on the 43200 block of Shady Lane at AvenueK-6, where the man they were hunting had committed an armed robbery at gunpoint shortly before noon.

They sealed off traffic from Avenues K-4 to K-8 and 21st to 25th street east.

The victim described the robber as a 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8 black man, 18 to 20 years old, wearing a gray baseball cap.

He matched the description of an armed robber who hit west Lancaster on Tuesday night -- at 9:30 in the 43300 block of 16th Street West and 15 minutes later in the 2300 block of West Avenue J.

A sheriff's deputy on the scene said law enforcement officials were operating on a ``50-50'' assumption that the robber was within the contained area.
