HUNDREDS 'DRIVE-BY' CARE'S 'PIT-STOP' WITH 'THE KING' RICHARD PETTY; SEVEN-TIME NASCAR WINSTON CUP CHAMPION MEETS & GREETS CARE SUPPORTERS

ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Coalition for Auto Repair Equality (CARE) hosted "THE BLOW-OUT CONGRESSIONAL RECEPTION OF THE YEAR," said CARE President David Parde.
On Wednesday, June 9, over 640 CARE supporters and fans of Richard Petty attended CARE's first congressional reception since its victorious defeat of H.R. 1790, The Design Innovation and Technology Act. Included in the 640 attendees were U.S. legislators from the House and Senate, Capitol Hill staffers and CARE's coalition friends.
A 12-foot-by-50-foot "race track" wall was erected and then covered with the banners of aftermarket companies along one side of the Cannon Caucus Room. "The company banners represent a portion of CARE's coalition. CARE represent the motor vehicle aftermarket as well as the thousands of `Mom-and-Pop Shops' that are in every American community," said Parde.
In addition to the Company Banner Race Track Wall, a 19-foot stack of petitions bearing over 2 million consumers' signatures in opposition to H.R. 1790 were on display.
Petty has accomplished unprecedented racing victories. Among his wins are seven Daytona 500 victories, more than 1,150 NASCAR Winston Cup starts and an unbeatable 200 career wins.
He was also the first driver in the sport to earn $1 million.
CARE asked Petty to be its featured guest to help celebrate the 4 million hard-working men and women who work in the 425,000 motor vehicle aftermarket businesses.
Celebrating its post-H.R. 1790 success, CARE has begun to combat other issues adversely affecting the aftermarket and motoring consumers, such as Junker-Clunker bills.
"Junker-Clunker" legislation, which targets vehicles that are 10 years and older for scrappage, is of great concern. CARE has moved into high gear and is prepared to fight Junker-Clunker legislation at the state and federal levels. Congress and the state legislatures should know that the motor vehicle aftermarket is not limited to the Big-Three automakers and Caterpillar.
"CARE will continue to be a company-driven organization dedicated to protecting the millions of aftermarket employees as well as motoring consumers from coast-to-coast.
"CARE was honored to have the `legend' of racing join us and help make CARE's reception a smashing success. This was CARE's first congressional reception, but it won't be our last," concluded the CARE president.
