HUMANA'S SPONSORSHIP OF MINI-GRANTS WILL PROVIDE
 MUCH NEEDED AID TO EDUCATION
Humana, a leading health care provider in South Florida, will be the principal sponsor of Broward Education Foundation's Mini-Grant Fund Awards. For the second consecutive year, Humana's contribution of $10,000 will give students, teachers and school administrators with innovative ideas, but no funding, the opportunity to see their concepts come to life.
Fifty-six Mini-Grants will be presented at a luncheon on Monday, June 1 at noon at the Crown Sterling Suites, 1100 S.E. 17 St., Fort Lauderdale. Dignitaries at the event will include Broward County School Board Chairperson Diana Wasserman, and School Superintendent Virgil L. Morgan.
Some of this year's winning ideas include:
-- A project called "The Disappearing Rainforest: Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?" which is geared to increase students' awareness of our pressing environmental problems and develop solutions to save trees.
-- The SEL program which teaches middle school students skills for everyday living.
The Broward Education Foundation is a non-profit organization which raises funds and provides scholarships and grant programs to enhance the quality of public education in Broward County, Fla.
