HUGHES FORMS NEW TRANSPORTATION SUBSIDIARY, NAMES GREGG PRESIDENT
 FULLERTON, Calif., Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Hughes Aircraft Co. has formed a new, Fullerton-based commercial subsidiary, Hughes Transportation Management Systems (HTMS), that will develop transportation systems to provide traffic solutions for the future.
 The appointment of Robert W. Gregg as president of HTMS was announced by John C. Weaver, Hughes senior vice president and president of the company's Systems Sector.
 "The decision to form Hughes Transportation Management Systems reflects Hughes' commitment to providing solutions to our growing surface transportation problems. Our expertise in the creation and use of sophisticated defense technology will help to alleviate traffic congestion and modernize the nations transportatio projects will be th e troduction of technology, support and product service for electronic toll and traffic management collection systems. It will also focus early efforts on marketing and product development.
 Gregg brings 33 years of experience in advanced electronics and transportation to the position. He was formerly the head of General Motors' Intelligent Vehicle/Highway Systems Program, coordinating the internal program and representing the company at the national level. At Hughes' Ground Systems Group in Fullerton, Gregg has been responsible for business development in commercial transportation. He was also the director of engineering, the senior technical agent for intra-company matters, and the first manager of the Hughes Air Defense Center.
 As president of Hughes Traffic Management Systems, Gregg will be responsible for guiding HTMS through a start-up phase and into operation as an independent business.
 Gregg and his wife, Peggy, live in Yorba Linda, Calif. They have four children and three grandchildren.
 Hughes, one of the nation's largest electronics firms, is a unit of GM Hughes Electronics, itself a wholly owned subsidiary of General Motors Corp. The earnings of GM Hughes Electronics are used to calculate the earnings per share of General Motors class H common stock (NYSE: GMH).
