HTP Co-Founder Richards to Address WEDI 2005 Fall Conference; Presentation will highlight Advantages of Single Sign-on Technology.


COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Fred Richards, chief technology officer and co-founder of HealthCare Transaction Processors, Inc. (HTP), makes the case for Single Sign-On Technology tomorrow at the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange WEDI, pronounced "wee dee" is a not-for-profit user group in the United States for users of Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) in public and private healthcare. The organization is sometimes referred to by other names that include some or all of the words:  (WEDI WEDI Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange ) 2005 Fall Conference. His presentation will be part of a larger discussion addressing the need to establish universal formats for electronic claims and clinical data such as health records and prescription information transfer.

The WEDI 2005 Fall Conference, "Continuing the Quest: Administrative and Clinical Integration and Interoperability," takes place Nov. 14-17 at the Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay hotel in Tampa, Fla. Richards' presentation is part of a larger session on "Standardizing Communication and Encryption Protocols in Healthcare" to be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 15.

Session presenters will address:

--Choices available to move electronic claims, health records, prescriptions and other data

--The need for universal methods to move the data

--Basic Internet Protocol (IP) and Encryption Protocol (EP) choices

--Adoption of a Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) to help healthcare move toward interoperable solutions.
