OTTAWA -- Belinda Stronach Belinda Caroline Stronach, PC, MP (born May 2, 1966 in Newmarket, Ontario) is a Canadian businessperson, philanthropist, politician, and a Liberal Member of Parliament (MP) in the Canadian House of Commons. , Minister of Human Resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees.  and Skills Development, announced funding to create the HR Council for the Voluntary/Non-profit Sector.

The Council is a new independent, non-profit organization A non-profit organization (abbreviated "NPO", also "non-profit" or "not-for-profit") is a legally constituted organization whose primary objective is to support or to actively engage in activities of public or private interest without any commercial or monetary profit purposes.  that will bring employers and employees together to provide leadership, build knowledge and develop strategies on issues related to paid employment. The voluntary/non-profit sector includes 1.2 million paid employees, representing 7.2 % of the country's total labour force.
