HP and WCIT Donate Computers and Printers to Local Schools.

) today announced that they have donated a total of 45 computers and printers/scanners valued at $85,000 to local Puget-Sound area schools and educational organizations. HP originally loaned the equipment to support community volunteer efforts to host the World Trade Organization (WTO See World Trade Organization. ) Ministerial in Seattle.

--   Denny Middle School students who speak English as a second
     language will use their new computer in a project that connects
     them with trade representatives from the students' countries of
     national origin who are doing business around the world.

--   Issaquah High School students will augment their work in a class
     on international relations as they examine trade and its impact
     on international economics.

--   Lopez Island High School will use the computer for research on
     trade issues relating to the Pacific Northwest, U.S. history and
     world cultures.

--   Marysville-Pilchuck High School will use the technology to study
     trade in classes on contemporary world problems and U.S. foreign
     policy.

--   Mercer Middle School students are active in the Ports Project, a
     trade study program for students and an interactive historical
     study of trade exploration.

--   Nathan Hale High School students involved in world affairs and
     trade issues will research a model United Nations project and
     study regional trade structures and agreements.

--   Tyee High School is involved in the "Trade Winds" project, which
     encourages students to solve real-life job-related trade issues.
