 have signed a licensing agreement allowing SDS to develop, enhance and sell messaging solutions built on HP's OpenMail e-mail server See mail server.  software.

SDS plans to develop products with new features providing existing OpenMail software users an ideal path for upgrades. The first release of SDS's messaging server will be compatible with OpenMail 7.0 and all its latest features while also adding new enhancements. The new server is expected to ship in the first half of 2002. A future version, also planned for 2002, will include telephone access to e-mail -- what is known as unified messaging Having access to e-mail, voice mail and faxes via a common computer application or by telephone. For example, unified messaging may send faxes and digitized voice mail to a mail server that turns them into e-mail attachments. .

Based on OpenMail software's highly reliable, secure and stable base, the new SDS messaging solution, Samsung Contact Samsung Contact was an enterprise e-mail and groupware server that ran on Linux, and HP-UX. It was based on HP OpenMail, which was licensed from Hewlett-Packard. It provided e-mail, calendars and other collaborative software, which are standard in groupware. , will incorporate the latest technology developed both internally and by partners. SDS's goal is for the new solution to become the leading unified communication product on the market.

SDS's messaging solutions will complement other SDS software in the market, such as the ACUBE ACUBE Association of College and University Biology Educators  Enterprise Knowledge portal and the FormXpress workflow solution, which HP intends to co-market and co-sell under a separate reseller agreement. In addition, SDS intends to use the HP Netaction middleware suite of products to develop applications.

SDS also has developed two novel Web- and Windows(R)-based e-mail clients (previously known as Gemini), which will be released in the first quarter of 2002. These clients can be used stand-alone, with other e-mail solutions or with the new SDS messaging server. In addition to e-mail features, the clients are scheduled to include calendar and personal task management functionality.
