HP Shopping Village Greatly Expands Breadth of Products Available Directly From HP.

Company Responds to Customer Acceptance of E-commerce Site

by Adding Business Printers and Filling Out Product Families

Hewlett-Packard Company today announced that it has expanded its printer product lineup in the HP Shopping Village, the company's online store -- the site now offers the widely acclaimed HP 2000C and HP 2500C Professional Series color printers for business users. Over the past four weeks, HP also has filled out its peripherals offerings on the site, adding the full line of HP's personal- and small-workgroup LaserJet printers and all-in-ones, and completing the offering of HP DeskJet printers. New HP ScanJet scanners are slated to be added to the site later this month. The HP Shopping Village is located at http://www.shopping.hp.com.

"We've seen a huge positive response to the convenience and value of the Shopping Village in the past few months," said Shen Li, head of HP's Consumer Channels Organization. "We've also received numerous requests to expand our online offering to include office printers. Now we've done that, making the site a one-stop destination for customers' office-computing needs."

Being added to the site today are the HP 2000Cse, HP 2000CN and HP 2500Cse Professional Series color printers at new, lower price points, intended to make these award-winning printers available to a much larger set of business customers. The printers are now priced at $599, $999 and $999 (U.S.), respectively. Other products recently added include the following:

-- LaserJet 1100se, LaserJet 2100se, LaserJet 2100M and

LaserJet 2100TN printers;

-- LaserJet 1100Ase printer-copier-scanner and LaserJet 3100se

printer-fax-copier-scanner;

-- DeskJet 420C, DeskJet 697C, DeskJet 712C, DeskJet 722C and

DeskJet 882C printers; and

-- a variety of printing and palmtop PC accessories.

The addition of these products and the scanners, later this month, will expand the HP Shopping Village roster to nearly 200 HP computing products.

Full-featured E-commerce Site

The HP Shopping Village includes a sophisticated feature that enables HP to offer products and services of interest to HP shoppers based on their prior purchases. It also offers a "help you choose" feature, which leads consumers to the right supplies for their HP printers or all-in-ones.

Another of the site's key features is that it lets consumers choose to purchase from HP online or directly from one of HP's retail partners. Customers visiting the site can access retailer locator information and links to retailers' own sites.

The E-commerce site uses the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) security protocol, the most widely accepted Internet encryption standard, to ensure a secure shopping environment for customers. This system protects customers' private information while it is being transferred to HP's server. The HP Shopping Village is a participant in Better Business Bureau OnLine (BBBOnLine) and has met BBBOnLine standards.

The site can take an order by 10 p.m. EST  and ship the product that same day for next-day customer receipt via FedEx. The site also offers Saturday delivery.
