, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 4, 1996--Hewlett-Packard Company today announced the opening of its largest, dedicated end-user business recovery center serving Europe for customers needing backup computing equipment and alternative office facilities in the event of a disaster. Other HP recovery centers serving Europe are located in England, Germany, Sweden, Spain and France.

The company also announced a multimillion dollar upgrade to its Valley Forge Valley Forge, on the Schuylkill River, SE Pa., NW of Philadelphia. Located in Queensferry, Scotland's "Silicon Valley," the new end-user recovery center acts as a temporary computing facility for customers who experience an interruption in regular computer operations. Up to 100 end users can be accommodated in the 6,000-square-foot recovery center, conveniently located near Edinburgh, the second-largest financial capital in the United Kingdom. The facility features a fully equipped office environment and can be configured with a range of HP and multivendor computer systems.

Customers have the flexibility to use systems that include high-end HP 9000-class business servers, network servers, workstations, desktop personal computers, as well as multivendor systems. For example, HP can ship hundreds of correctly configured multivendor PCs to the site or other locations within 24 hours.
