HP Launches Worldwide UNIX System, Windows NT Integration Initiative; HP Announces Dedicated Consulting Practice as Part of the HP Colliance Program to Incorporate Services and Technologies.


SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 12, 1997--Hewlett-Packard Company today launched its worldwide HP Colliance Program, HP's HP-UX HP's version of Unix that runs on its 9000 family. It is based on SVID and incorporates features from BSD Unix along with several HP innovations.

The HP Colliance Program is a worldwide program designed to complement in-house IT resources in planning, designing, implementing and supporting mixed-operating-system environments.

PROGRAM DELIVERY

Once a company has decided to work with HP or through an HP Channel Partner on the integration of its UNIX system and Windows NT environments, the assessment phase of the project begins. After identifying specific business objectives, the company will work with an HP consulting team to determine the steps required for the integration.

At the conclusion of the assessment phase, a comprehensive recommendation is submitted to the customer, detailing the people and process aspects as well as the technologies that will be needed. With the recommendation approved, the design and implementation phases follow. Once the solution has been implemented, HP offers a range of support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  to help customers support and manage their environments. Customers will have a choice of the level of support their businesses require, as well as the choice of managing their environments with their own team of IT professionals, supported by HP, or to selectively outsource their systems and network management to HP.
