HP Introduces New Family of OfficeJet Printer-fax-copier-scanners; New All-in-one Products Customized for People Who Work from Home.

The three new products integrate the common office features consumers want most -- full-featured printing, faxing, copying, scanning -- and also provide space savings and affordability. The series expands HP's industry-leading line of low-cost, all-in-one products.

 New York-based research company IDC/LINK, more than 42 million home offices will exist by the end of 1996. By the year 2000, that number is expected to grow to 52 million, according to Giga Information Group, Norwell, Mass.

Prices for the OfficeJet Series 300 printer-fax-copier-scanners, which include Models 300, 330 and 350, are expected to begin at about $549.

FULL FUNCTIONALITY FOR HOME-OFFICE USERS

The new OfficeJet Series 300 printer-fax-copier-scanners offer high-quality inkjet printing to produce documents with sharp black text compatible with output produced at work. These products can print documents at up to 3 pages per minute and offer 600 x 300 dots-per-inch (dpi) resolution. They also can handle a variety of media, allowing users to print on plain paper, envelopes and transparencies.

All of the new products provide full-featured, plain-paper faxing with enough memory to allow 24 pages to be stored if the device runs out of paper or ink. The machines can speed-dial up to 60 locations. They also have newly designed front panels with 10 one-touch keys that make it easy to send faxes to frequently dialed numbers.

The OfficeJet Series 300 printer-fax-copier-scanners are equipped with a 300 dpi scanner for convenience scanning and copying of text, line art and signatures. Additionally, the OfficeJet Model 350 printer-fax-copier-scanner comes bundled with Caere OmniPage Limited Edition optical character recognition optical character recognition (OCR), method for the machine-reading of typeset, typed, and, in some cases, hand-printed letters, numbers, and symbols using optical sensing and a computer.  (OCR OCR

ENHANCED EASE OF USE AND CONVENIENCE

The OfficeJet Series 300 printer-fax-copier-scanners come with an improved user interface, making it easy to install and use the new products. In particular, a key new feature is the Autoprompt menu, which provides a simple way for users to copy, fax and scan documents directly from their PCs.

Additionally, the OfficeJet Models 330 and 350 printer-fax- copier-scanners offer full-featured PC faxing from Windows-based computers. Integrated fax-management software enables users to fax documents directly from an application, without printing the document first. RELIABILITY AND COMPATIBILITY

The OfficeJet Series 300 printer-fax-copier-scanners are backed by HP's limited, one-year Express Exchange warranty. With Express Exchange, customers receive a replacement machine within one business day. HP SupportPack, a three-year service plan that extends the Express Exchange warranty, also is available.

OfficeJet printer-fax-copier-scanners are compatible with Windows 3.1 and Windows 95. The devices meet international fax-industry standards and are Energy Star compliant.
